“Achieve the Comfort Zone”ULTIMATEADHESIVE TO APPLYCERAMIC, PORCELAIN, QUARRY, TERRAZZO, SLATE, MARBLE, LIMESTONE, GRANITE, MOSAIC, TRAVERTINE NATURAL STONE, VITRIFIED, SEMI VITRIFIEDTO: FLOATING FLOORS, TIMBER, PLYWOOD, CHIPBOARD, UNDERFLOOR HEATING, METAL, FIBREGLASS, GREEN CONCRETE, GREEN SCREED, PLASTERBOARD,BLOCK, NEW BRICK SPECIFICATION CATEGORY: Conforms to BS 5980 : 1980 – Type 1 :Class AA EN 12004 : C2 F T S2 DESCRIPTION: A fast setting, high polymer cement basedadhesive. It gives a strong, fastsetting mix which can apply a full range of tiles to several types ofsubstrate. IMPORTANT: The ULTIMATE product is designedto apply tiles to a surface with movement. Some tiles may not have the structure toabsorb movement without cracking. Consultwith the supplier of tiles regarding this matter, or call our Helpline 01257269243. ADVANTAGES: * Light foottraffic after 3 hours * Grout after 4 hours * Can take direct traffic after 24 hours * Flexible * High durability * Singlepart, no need for additives * Full range of tiles * Variety ofsubstrates * Green screeds and concrete * Floating floors. PREPARATION: Before starting, all substrates must beclean, dry and strong enough to support the weight of the tiles and adhesive.Remove all dust, dirt, oil, grease and other contaminants that may affectadhesion. APPLICATION: When mixing add powder to water. As a precaution to develop your familiaritywith the open time, mix small amounts, perhaps 5k of ULTIMATE to approximately1 litre of water. Mix to a smooth buttery consistency by hand or with a slowmechanical mixing paddle. Product that has started to set must be discarded, ifyou add water this will impair the efficiency of the mix. Apply adhesive to thesubstrate using a notched trowel so that a continuous bed between 3mm and 6mmwill be achieved when tiles are applied. Adhesive should also be applied tothe back of deep studded tiles to cover the studs. Ensurethe adhesive is still moist and there is full coverage when tiles are pressedinto place with a twist action. Clean surplus adhesive from the tiles andjoints as soon as possible as set adhesive will prove very difficult to removelater. Clean tools after use with water. GROUTING: Do not start grouting until the adhesive has set. Thistime can range from 2 to 4 hours depending on the substrate and atmosphericconditions. If you are tiling an area of limited movement, or under floorheating you must use a grout with flexibility, our Flexigrout and Grout3000range is highly recommended. If you are unsure with our instruction in any way pleasecall our Helpline: 01257 269243, we will be happy to assist. SUBSTRATES:
CONCRETE, NEW BRICKWORK, BLOCKWORK AND RENDER In situ concrete should be left to cure for 7 days.Laitance should be removed by mechanical means, such as by grit blasting, andall loose particles cleared from substrate. Other surfaces should be allowed tocure for 7 days, prior to tiling. Surface must be free of dirt and loose dust particles.Prepare surface by priming with 4 parts water to 1 part Flexmaster.
UNDERFLOOR HEATING The heating unit must be switched off and allowed to cooldown prior to application. The heating element should be embedded withLEVELFLEX or a layer of adhesive. After application the heating must NOT beturned on for at least 24 hours. When turned on temperature must be increasedslowly on a daily basis.
TIMBER / PLYWOOD / CHIPBOARD Timber or plywood must be fixed firmly with screws at 6inch centres to the substrate or joists. Prime with 4 parts water to 1 partFlexmaster.
FLOATING FLOORS Ensure that the floating floor panels are locked togetherusually by tongue and groove system and that the full floor movement is lockedas one. It is important that there is no rise and fall between panel edges.Prime with 1 part Flexmaster diluted with 3 parts water.
SCREEDS Screed should be left for a minimum of 24 hours untilsufficiently dry before applying tiles. Prime with 4 parts water to 1 partFlexmaster.
GLAZED SURFACES Abrade tile surface with wire wool or mechanical sander toprovide a key. Ensure the tiled surface is solid and dust and dirt has beenremoved. Prime surface area with 1 part Flexmaster diluted to 4 parts water.
PLASTER SURFACES Ensure plaster surface is solid and free of looseparticles. Prime with 1 part Flexmaster diluted to 3 parts water.
PLASTERBOARD Plasterboard must be structurally sound with all movementlimited and must be able to take the weight of tiles and adhesive. Prime with 1part Flexmaster diluted to 4 parts water.
ASPHALT, VINYL TILES AND SHEET VINYL The surface must be solid and unmovable. Remove allpolishes, grease and loose particles. Prime with 1 part Flexmaster diluted with2 parts water.
ANHYDRITE FLOOR SCREEDS Screed must be allowed 24 hours to cure before applyingtiles. Ensure the substrate is free of dust and loose particles. Seal with 2coats of Flexmaster.
POWER FLOATED CONCRETE Ensure surface has been allowed 7 days to cure and is freeof dust and loose particles. No priming is required, however on shiny surfacesacid etching or by mechanical means such as grit blasting may be required.
METAL FLOORS AND FIBREGLASS Abrade surface with wire wool or mechanical sander. Primewith 1 part Flexmaster diluted with 2 parts water. Ensure fibreglass is solidand limited movement exists.
